The housing market in Vancouver has bounced back and is full force once again. It has been busy with many residential renovations lately. Here are a few images from a stunning renovation in Kitsilano by McPhail Renovations.

One Year Later

I recently re-shot a beautiful wine room at Blue Water Cafe a year after I originally photographed it. The ceiling is now a a focal point with the addition of glass panels. Which one do you prefer?

LEED Certified Parking Garage

This Santa Monica parking garage designed by Moore Ruble Yudell Architects and Planners is the first LEED certified parking struucture in the United States. Solar photovoltaic panels on the roof provides renewable energy and shade for top level parking. The materials used were recycled and finished with low-VOC paints and finishes. Low-e glazing is utilized to decrease heating and cooling loads. A storm-drain water-treatment system helps reduce runoff from directly entering the hydrosphere and greywater is harvested to provide for landscaping on-site.

Going Green!

"Green" buildings and renovations are all the rage in the media these days. Unfortunately the majority of the projects we see are out of reach (read unaffordable) to most. Luckily I had the opportunity recently to photograph an amazing "green" renovation to a small condo with bamboo cabinets, cork floors and no VOC paints.

I've just returned from an ASMP conference in Chicago. It was my first time there and was amazed! What a great city!

4 Restaurants, 4 Chefs, 4 Days

It's been incredibly busy the past few weeks! The last four days I have shot at 4 different restaurants with 4 different chefs. Chefs are always great to work with and always ready to create something special to show their talents!

Go Big

As a photographer it's very satisfying to see your work in its final form on a website, or in print in a magazine. It's even cooler to see it when it's HUGE on a billboard! Here is an image I shot recently that has been on a few billboards around Vancouver.
It was a "must have" image for the client and it took a bit of effort. The only vantage point for the shot was from a dock in a private yacht club. And if you anything about photography, you know that moving docks and shooting long exposures at dusk don't mix! Shot at 1600 iso the image turned out better then I would have expected. Thanks technology!

New Blog!

Well it's a new year, I've got a new website and now a new blog! I am often asked about the images I take and it always seems there is an interesting story behind each image. So here it is! I figured it would interesting for clients and friends to get a little insight into my working life. I have documented some interesting people and places around the world. This blog will be where I share those pictures, some words and some words about those pictures! All showing potential clients what it's like to work with us. Enjoy!
